Program Titled "15 July: Our Will, Our Victory" Was Held at the Presidency of Migration Management
A program themed "Our Will, Our Victory" was held by the Presidency of Migration Management as part of the commemoration events for the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day.
Commencing with a moment of silence and the National Anthem at the Şehit Kadir Kırbaç Conference Hall, the program kept the spirit of national unity and solidarity alive as the heroes martyred and the veterans of the 15 July coup attempt were commemorated.
Speaking at the opening of the program, the President of Migration Management, Muhammet Selami Yazıcı, stated that what happened on the night of 15 July 2016 was not just a coup attempt, but rather targeted the constitutional order, the principle of the rule of law, the democratic institutions, and the governance approach based on the national will of the Republic of Türkiye.
Emphasizing that the betrayal attempt was thwarted thanks to the resolute stance of the nation and the state, as well as the will of public institutions to protect the constitutional order, President Yazıcı stated the following:
"As clearly expressed in Article 6 of our Constitution; 'Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the Nation.' This principle is one of the fundamental pillars of our Republic. No person, group, or entity may exercise a state authority that does not derive its source from the Constitution. Like all institutions of our State, we too are obliged to fulfill our duties solely within the framework of the Constitution, the laws, and the principles of the rule of law."
"A Strong State is Possible with Strong Institutions"
Pointing out that the Ministry of Interior is one of the most deep-rooted and strategic institutions of the state, President Yazıcı stated that the Ministry undertakes a vital responsibility in terms of ensuring public order, protecting the safety of life and property of citizens, maintaining the integrity of the administration, and executing public services effectively.
Stating that citizens' trust in the state is largely shaped by the sensitivity of public servants, President Yazıcı made the following assessment: "One of the most important lessons that 15 July left us is that a strong state is only possible with strong institutions, and strong institutions are only possible with public servants who possess a high sense of duty, and who are competent, merit-oriented, and loyal to their state."
Expressing that never compromising on the principle of the rule of law, respect for human rights, and impartiality while performing duties must be an inseparable part of institutional identity, President Yazıcı stated that commemorating 15 July is not only about remembering the past, but also about reaffirming the determination to protect the constitutional order and the national will.
Commemorating all martyrs with mercy, particularly the 15 July martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the indivisible integrity of the homeland, President Yazıcı wished the veterans a healthy and peaceful life.
Methods and Disinformation Activities of FETO Were Addressed
During the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim İrdem, Head of the Media, Public Relations, and Protocol Department of the General Directorate of Security, made a presentation on "The Historical Process and Current Situation Analysis of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO)."
In his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrdem focused on the methods of secrecy and insidious structuring employed by FETO while infiltrating state institutions. Providing information on the current status of the organization, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrdem pointed out that FETO continues its anti-Türkiye lobbying activities and disinformation campaigns through its fugitive elements abroad, emphasizing that the fight against these global networks is sustained with determination.
The presentation also referenced the historic call of President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, "I invite our nation to the squares," which marked the turning point of the coup attempt. It was conveyed how the public, taking to the streets with this move of leadership and national will, thwarted the treacherous coup attempt at the cost of their lives.
The program was attended by Ramazan Seçilmiş and Murat Karakaya, Deputy Presidents of Migration Management, along with general directors, heads of departments, and institutional personnel.
