Duties of the Directorate General of Migration Management
ARTICLE 159 – (1) The duties and mandate of the General Directorate of Migration Management are to:
a) carry-out work on developing legislation and administrative capacity in the field of migration and monitor and coordinate the implementation of policies and strategies determined by the president of the republic;
b) carry-out activities and actions related to migration;
c) carry-out duties assigned to the Ministry pursuant to the Settlement Law no. 5543 dated 19/09/2006; ç) carry-out activities and actions related to the protection of victims of human trafficking;
d) determine stateless persons in Turkey and carry-out activities and actions related to such persons;
e) carry-out activities and actions related to harmonization processes;
f) carry-out activities and actions related to temporary protection;
g) ensure coordination between law enforcement units and relevant public institutions and organizations, develop measures and follow up on the implementation of such measures taken in order to combat irregular migration;
ğ) assist in the programming and projecting of the activities of public institutions and organizations in the field of migration, evaluate and approve project proposals, monitor the work and projects carried out, support the implementation of such work and projects in accordance with international standards
h) carry-out other duties assigned through legislation.
(2) Any information or document requests from the General Directorate within the scope of Law No. 6458 and this section shall be fulfilled without delay by the relevant institutions and organizations.
