Our General Manager Dr. Savaş ÜNLÜ made statements to Anadolu Agency on the occasion of “World Day Against Trafficking in Persons". Our General Manager Dr. ÜNLÜ; stating that the terrorist organization PKK / YPG has been forcefully arming the children they have kidnapped; said "This situation adds the crime of human trafficking to the list of crimes perpetrated by the terrorist organization PKK / YPG.".
General Manager of Migration Management Dr. Savaş ÜNLÜ pointed out that human trafficking crime is a different crime than human smuggling or migrant smuggling, and stated that consent is the most important factor that separates human trafficking crime and migrant smuggling crime.
Our General Manager Dr. ÜNLÜ noted that although the crime of migrant smuggling has a transboundary feature, there is no such feature in human trafficking crime, also the relationship between migrant smuggler and irregular migrant ends when the irregular migrant reaches the country he wants to go to, however there is a continuity in human trafficking crime.
Our General Manager Dr. Savaş ÜNLÜ mentioned the situation of the children that the terrorist organization PKK / YPG forced them to add to the ranks of the organization by detaching them from their families and also exploited them, and used the following expressions: "The use of children as human resources by the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in armed activities has been going on since 1984. It is even known that units of children were established within the organization. These children are used not only in armed conflicts within the organization, but also inhuman crime activities such as drug couriers and human shields. These kidnapped children are also subjected to harassment and rape by the ringleaders of the organization. The fact that the terrorist organization PKK / YPG kidnapped and abused children was also included in the Human Trafficking Report published by the United States regularly every year.
Our General Manager Dr. Savaş ÜNLÜ pointed out that various activities were carried out in Turkey to prevent crime in 2019, and stated that training and awareness-raising activities were carried out in 2019 with the participation of 3,384 people including 3,087 public officials, 297 civilians, private sector employees and students.
Our General Manager Dr. ÜNLÜ continued his statements as follows: Residence permits for victims of human trafficking are issued to foreign victims who do not have the right to stay legally in our country. This residence permit is not subject to any fees and none of the conditions required in other residence permits are expected.
